Who knows, this may help. My great, great grandfather was James Grace from Ardgregane in the parish of Monsea. His father may have been John or William John Grace of Ardgregane as this is the name recorded in the Tithes in about 1825 and in the Griffiths in about 1850. James Grace married Sarah Meagher and all their children were baptised in Monsea and they listed their townland as Ardgregane.

Hi Leonore,
You might want to go onto www.rootsireland.ie which has most of the church records of the country. The other site is www.irishgenealogy.ie
the rootsireland site is where you should start.

Hi Leonore-I found the following in parish records-A Michael Grace and wife Honor had the following children baptised in Monsea,22 April 1835 ELLINOR sponsors James Dunne and Honor GrAce.26 Jan 1837 WILLIAM sponsors Thomas Grace and Ellenor Cleary. Also a Thomas Grace and Honorary Hanahan had4 Dec 1851 JOHN sponsors Thomas Stapleton and Anne Grace.Just found marriage record for Thomas Grace and Honorary Shanahan in Youghalarra, a neighbouring parish. They married on 7th March 1848-Thomas Address as Monsea, and Honorary as Monroe. Witnesses James Grace and Margaret Flaherty. priest James Ryan. These were the only other Graces in the records with Ardregane as their town lands. It is possible that Michael could be an older brother, or uncle. There is a Michael Grace in Ardregane in the tithes applotment- along with a William and John, you can see the originals through the following linkThe pariah records only start in 1834- so Thomas and your James Grace probably were born prior to these dates. I could not find any marriage records for James. Will be in touch soon
