My husband's great great grandfather was a William Leahy that I think was from The Tipperary area.....but the birthdate I have for him is 1797... Nothing official just from my research. He marrie a woman named Mary...possibly last name of Poeer born 1815. They had a son Edward born 1842"0... I found his baptism record. They had a daughter Margaret born 1839 or 1840. They all came to the US by 1860 because Margaret had her first child in 1860 in Cortland NY. She married a Patrick Lanigan and we are trying to figure out if he was from Tipperary also. I have no ide if there is a conncetion or not...we are searching too!

He may be a brother of my great-grandfather Dennis. Time frame & place is right. Have you done any of the genealogic DNA tests such as Ancestry or FTDNA?

 

 

Yes Kathy my husband's DNA isn't ancestry his name is under marecash......his name is Michael Cashman. He is also on GedMatch and if you are on there i can send you his GedMatch number.

Hi Kathy, I don't have any information that you have about your GGG Grandfather, Denis Leary and his Mother name was Mary Kearney. It is ironic that Denis was from Moycarkey, his Mother was Mary Kearney and your last name is Egan? My GG Grandmother born 1824 and Married John Egan on February 25,1843 at Moycarkey and had a son, Patrick on February 24,1844 then came to America in 1845. Could this be a connection here?
