A recent Ancestry.com DNA match links me to John Grady/Anne Quaney of Templetouhy. The Tithe Applotment show Carey and Grady families living in Long Orchard. The Grady's had two sons, Joseph and Michael, who moved to Orange NY in the 1850's.

The Tithe Applotment also show Keary,  Grady and Quaney families in Benaghmore, Roscrea. My great-Grandfather, Daniel Carey (Keary) married Bridget Tracey (of Martin Tracey/Eliza McDoole) at Couraganeen in 1855. They possibly lived in Ballynough, Derrymore and Rosemary (St), Roscrea. The Careys and Traceys immigrated to Niagara County NY in the early 1860's.

Information on these families would be appreciated.

  • Tim,

Thanks for the reply. In addition to 2 trips to Dublin and the Bourney area I have used rootsireland in the development of my circumstantial case for believing that my grandfather (etc) were from Roscrea/Bourney. I have forwarded the announcement for the gathering on May 28th to several people in the area who  I believe would be of help in your efforts. In respect of their privacy, if you will contact me, outside this public forum, I will pass their names on to you (with some background) so that you may contact them directly.

I am looking forward to hearing the resultsof the meeting.
