Dear chademao
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
As you can see from the link below, Thurles is a civil parish in Co. Tipperary:
Records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Thurles begin in 1795 while those for the Church of Ireland are lost. As this case, any baptism or marriage event for the RC parish before 1795 will not be recorded. Below is a list of the records that are available for that time:
The Down Survey (1656-1658): http://downsurvey.tcd.ie/
Book of Survey and Distribution (c.1680) ? available from the National Library of Ireland. You can find out more here:

List of Voters (1776) ? National Archives of Ireland (M4878 AND mf 4912)
Register of Freeholders in Co. Tipperary ( 1776) ? National Archives of Ireland 1321-2; GO Ms 442)

Dear Clare, thanx so very much for the great info.I (unfortunately am on dial up on my pc) and trying to go thru Civil Survey Tipperary 1654 is so sloooow! And it's almost 500 pages long.I did (up in the search bar) type in both O'Bannon and John O'Bannon- and it said not found-does that probably mean his name would NOT be mentioned anywhere in that manuscript? Also on the Down Survey -I kept trying to type in a county,a barony, and a parish but I couldn't get anything to come up on it.Not sure what I am doung wrong on this .I am new to doing this type of research (as u can probably tell!) thanx again

Hi again
I put O'Bannon into the Down Survey just now and it also states that there is no record. So according to that source they are not recorded as land holders in 1641 or 1670. The Civil Survey is obviously very 'heavy' with digital images so it might be quicker/easier to view it in a public library if possible. Although, given the above results, I wouldn't be very sure of success. Again given the dates involved, unless your ancestors were landed gentry, bishops or had other occupations in which record creation and retention were important, it is not likely you will learn anything more about them specifically. You can of course read plenty about that period in Irish history in terms of social history and geography (but this is a poor second to finding records that relate directly - sorry).
Best wishes
Clare
