Michael Malone born abt 1840 Thurles, Tipperary

Have met a dead end with regards to my great grandfather Michael Malone born abt 1840 in Thurles, Tipperary. His parents were Edward Malone and Catherine Fogarty. This is shown on his death certificate. He migrated to Australia in 1864 arriving on the ship, Lightning. He had a sister, Johanna who also emigrated to Australia on the Hornet arriving in 1859. I am wondering if he had other siblings and if their descendants are still in Tipperary.  Also would like to find records to try and trace as much of this as I can.  Just need to know how to get started as I have found no real leads.
