James A. Ryan, born c1840 in County Tipperary, died 1889 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. His obituary in one newspaper says he was "a native of Thurles, Co. Tipperary." In another newspaper, it says he was "born in Teress, County Tipperary." Is there such a place as Teress? Or was that maybe a misspelling of Thurles?

Hi Jeanne
I believe thatThurles and Teress are both the same place, some people from abroad who have broad accents pronounce Thurles not as it is spelled but by how it sounds. Thurles is a hinderland for the name Ryan, so every Ryan family has a nickname, do you know of a nickname in your Ryan Clan if so this will narrow down the searcr?
