Ellen Theresa "Nellie" Loughman b. 21 May 1883, Tipperary - Cashel?

What appears to be the corresponding record that you found for the Ellen Loughman in the Civil Registration District of Cashel Co Tipperary born Apr-May-Jun 1883 (at Ancestry.com) can also be found at the Irish Family History Foundation (IFHF) at http://www.rootsireland.ie

However, the record at rootsireland.ie indicates that this particular Ellen Loughman was born to parents THOMAS Loughman and Mary Foley and it is listed in Cashel Civil Parish.  Using the free search I can only see the year (and not the quarter of the birth) but it is given as 1883.  You would have to purchase the record to see the exact date.  

Are you quite sure that the father's given name for all these Loughman children was Michael?  Reason I ask is that I found what would appear to be the civil birth records for some of the other children you listed and they too appear to have a father named THOMAS and not Michael.  For instance I found 3 other children born to Thomas Loughman and Mary Foley (all in Cashel Civil Parish):  Thomas 1865, John 1878 and David 1885 (this date only 1 year off from what you have for your David Loughman).  

There are an additional 3 children that come up in the records with a father named Thomas Loughman and a mother with the given name of Mary (the mother's surname is not FOLEY or is perhaps some alternate spelling of FOLEY - in order to get the surname of a parent to come up you must have the spelling EXACTLY right):  Thomas 1872, Margaret 1874 and Edmond 1876.  (This could be your "Edward" as Edmund/Edmond oftern interchanged for the name Edward).  

Further, I find NO children in all of Co Tipperary South born to a father named Michael Loughman with a wife named Mary Foley - however, there are at least 4 children born to a Michael Loughman with a wife whose first name is Mary (last name undetermined).  3 are in Cashel Civil Parish (Mary 1889, Margaret 1892, Timothy 1896) and one in Cahir Civil Parish (Ann 1887).

Thanks for your post - it does help me a lot. I had seen some of those records with Thomas Loughman as the father and was wondering if my information about "Michael" is correct. I will ask Ellen Loughman's grand-daughter (also Ellen) if she every heard of her great grand-father being referred to as Thomas.

I will get the full record off of http://www.rootsireland.ie as the Ancestry.com record comes from the Family History Center's records which do not include the 1883 record.

I have seen some other records with a different spelling of FOLEY. I think I will add these records to my family tree on Ancestry.com and start to work on the rest of the Loughman records from Cashel.

Does Cashel Civil Parish have a group of Roman Catholic Parishes in that area?
