Info sought on McAleer/McElhone family in Bodoney Lower.

My ancestors come from the same general area and I have seen the name McAleer often in my research. 

On the website www.placenamesni.org I found listed a Coneyglen Burn and Coneyglen Bridge, so there well might be a farm by that name. You might check the locations of those places, then search from there.

Also, you might want to search Facebook for a site that covers that area. Some of the local historical societies have pages and are very open to questions, plus they post photos of the old farms, etc. I should check myself for Lower Badoney!

After some reading there, I think you might want to visit the Glenelly Our Home FB page or their historical society on the internet. They are happy to post questions and it is frequented by their local residents. 

Coneyglen seems to have been part of Greencastle Parish and was a part of Lower Badoney. 

I will look at my own notes and see what I have that mentions the McAleer surname.

Thank you so much for answering my query.  I have spent the morning searching every part of the Greencastle website.  I have sent them an email of a few questions and hope they have time to answer.

I really feel now I'm on the right track to finding where they lived in Ireland.  I was in Ireland a few years ago and I'm sure I travelled that road but unaware of how close I was to finding them.
