Should be most appreciative of any information on one of my immigrant ancestors from Lower Bodoney, Co. Tyrone. Came to Virginia as an indentured servant cica 1725-1750,called John Nickell in America. May have been named some variation of this in Ireland.

You don?t say what denomination your ancestor was. However in this case it?s probably academic since no denomination in Bodoney Lower has baptism or marriage records for the 1700s. The earliest are the Church of Ireland records which start in 1812.
Researching ancestors who left in the 1700s, is very difficult. Very few sources exist. There are a few sources which are detailed in Dr William Roulston?s book: Researching Scots-Irish ancestors but few of the sources mentioned there are on-line and a visit to PRONI (the public record office) in Belfast is often required.
Griffiths Valuation for 1859 has a Robert Nicholl listed in Casorna (Bodoney Lower). He had a 24 acre farm there. He?s the only person of that name I can find listed in the parish in the mid 1800s. Perhaps he is a relation of your ancestor? (No Nickell spelling in Griffiths). However there were some McNickle households in the parish. (McNickle and Nickle are interchangeable):

In 1901 there was 1 Nickle household there:

Plus 3 McNickle:

All the families appear to be Church of Ireland so that seems to be the denomination to focus on.

There were plenty of McNickle families in Bodoney circa 1830 - see here for example:

We have a McNickle connection to our Forsythe family by marriage in 1847. Patrick McNickle of Culvacullion (often misspelled!) married Margaret Forsythe of Lislap.
Sorry I have nothing before that year on the McNickles, but it is something to consider. I suggest going through the files at the above website and watching it closely, as they are constantly adding more data.
Good luck.
