David Francis Whelan was born March 31 1890 in Dungarvan, Waterford, Ireland
His father was John Whelan from Balleycullane.
His mother was Mary Tobin.
Can you tell me anything more about these parents such as their birth dates and/or who their parents were. There are many John Whelans and Mary Tobins and I can't identify which are the correct ones.

Your John Whelan and Mary Tobin were married in 1877 in the Dungarvan registration district. The marriage is recorded in Volume 4 page 600. You can write to the GRO www.groireland.ie and get a copy of the record. Fill out their form, provide 1877, Dungarvan and the volume and page number.John and Mary lived in Ballycullane townland. The 1901 and 1911 census records are below. John died between the two censuses. It looks like he died in 1910. The death index data is below. You can write to the GRO also for this record.
Finally, I looked at the Griffiths Valuation data for Dungarvan parish and found a Michael Whelan living in Ballycullane More townland. Possibly he was the father of John. See link below.
