My Great Grandfather was James Harty, born in 1851, (son of Augustine Harty - 1795-1872) married Margaret London who was born in 1849.  They were supposedly from Armore Parish in Cty Waterford.  My Grandfather was Michael M Hartyy born approx. 1880 and he married Maude Daacon.

I think I found the old Harty homestead outside of Ardmore back in 2005 but couldn't find anyone that knew anything about the Harty family.

I'd like to find living relatives that are still in Ireland

    Hi Jan,

    Thank you for your message.

Have you looked in the census records of 1901 and 1911 to see if there were any Harty?s still in the area at the time? You can search these here:

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

It may be an idea to also place this message in a more local forum in the hope that any relatives still in teh area will see it and make contact with you. Some places where it may be possible to do so are:

    The Munster Express: http://www.munster-express.ie/

    Waterford Today: http://www.waterford-today.ie/

There may also be local parish newsletters available.

I hope this suggestion is helpful. Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.

    Kind regards,

  • I am researching the Harty family also due to my 2 gg, John William Harty.  I have found James Harty (1851-1936) married to Margaret London (1849-1928).  They were married on Jun 23, 1873 in Shullsburg, Lafayette, Wisconsin.  Margaret is buried in St. Matthews New Catholic Cemetery, Shullsburg, Wisconsin.  James died in Galena, Jo Daviess, Illiniois and is buried next to his wife in Shullsburg.  Would love to hear from you and see if we are connected.
