Hi

My name is Geoff Landers living on the Welsh Borders near Shrewsbury, U.K.

My late father told me the family and surname hailed from Waterford though he was unsure as to exactly where in the County.I have had some help tracking my roots  from an enthusiast in Dungarvan who has suggested posting on this site under Clonea Parish?.

I have also done some research from the UK angle about my ancestors in Middlesbrough which I can summarise as follows:-

St Hilda's,Middlesbrough,North Yorkshire the area where Thomas & Margaret Landers were living at the time of the 1861 Census. Please note the reference later on  in the article on to people from Ireland moving into the area.

Feversham Street was prob only built in the mid-late 1840's so there is a strong possibility that they could have been married and living in Ireland before they settled over here? Thomas was born around 1815 in "Ireland-Waterford" so if the Census info is accurate  would he have been too young to own or rent land in 1831 as the Tithe records might suggest? http://rememberwhen.gazettelive.co.uk/2010/06/over-the-border.html Can anyone please assist any further as to the roots of the Landers family in the area?

  • Welcome aboard Geoff. Keep in mind that we have just lifted off on this site. Wonderful link, enjoyed reading through it. Life was no different than it was here. Thanks for posting, you are the first! I will also re-visit my Landers research and see if anything new catches my eye.
