I have plans to visit Westmeath in late September and hope to discover more about my ancestral ties to Dysart where my Patrick Carney & Bridget Mary Seery (his wife) lived before coming to Lawrence, Massachusetts in 1851. I hope to learn about the records that may be found regarding their marriage in 1833 and the birth of their six children. Thank you for any advice or assistance.

  • Hello Matthew, I have been asked to look at unanswered queries and realise it is not much help now, I had a look on Roots for the marriage and see a Patrick Kearney (name is often spelled either way I think as pronunciation the same) and Lucy Seery married in Clonmellon parish on the 18th Nov. 1852

No parents recorded, witnesses are Christopher Kearney and Catherine Seery. There appears to be a gap in the marriage record for the years 1845 (July 29th to Jan 10 1846) first year of the famine so maybe a reason. Seery is an unusual name so would assume it is the same family.

https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0917 You can only search by event and month and year after that read which can be difficult.

    Good Luck
