I am trying to trace my wife's Great Grandfather's Parents and ancesters.  He was born in Ireland in 1948.  His name was John Reardon.  I have over the past 9 months tried to getdetails of his mother and fulldetails of his father.  On his Marriage certificate he was born 1948 in Limerick and his father was Patrick. (Deceased at the time of Marriage in 1880..

I have tried Roots Ireland, Ancestry.co.uk, FindmyPast and Genes Reunited as well as Family Search. I belong to all of these.  Every so often I try another search for his birth and yesterday Family Search came up with a John M Reardon, born July - Sep 1948 in Killmallock. Mother's Maiden name was given as O'Callaghan.

I have always searched for a John Reardon and not John M Reardon as I have never seen the M before so it may not be him.  However the spelling of his name has always been Reardon and not Riordon.

I have tried to find a marriage of O'Callahan and Patrick Reardon to no avail.

Can you help me please.  If you can I would be most grateful.

Incidently he became a Lance Corporal in the Army.

Thanking you in anticipation

  • Hi  Ron,  There  were  about  150  families  of  Reardons  oin  Griffiths  Valuation  1850s.  Some  of  them  living  in  Kilfinane  very  near  Kilmallock.   Seeing  that  you  had  no  luck  with  the  online  searches.  I  will  find  out  email  address  of  Limerick  Family  History  research,  They  will  look  up  Baptism  and  Marriage  of  parents  for  you  for  a  small  fee.   Will  get  back  to  you  on  this.

You  will  be  able  to  access  Griffiths  at   www.askaboutireland.ie.

    Best  of  luck

    Kindest  regards.
