I'm currently doing some research for a friend, whose grandparents came from the New Ross area. The only information I have is that his name was Thomas Smith and her name was Mary Ann Fitzharris. They were married on 9th Sept 1901 in New Ross. Her parents were Richard and Mary and she was born 26/9/1873 but other than knowing his father's name was Thomas I've not been able to find his birth. He did die young. He was a boatman and drowned on 26/8/1910. I would be grateful for any help pointing me in the right direction to do more research.

Caroline:
I searched on two subscription sites and the best lead I could locate was this 1875 civil birth record for a Thomas Smith/Smyth with father Thomas. The area where this Thomas was born is northeast of New Ross. See second record

I also found a May 19 1880 baptismal record for a Thomas Smith in New Ross RC parish (born May 17). Father Thomas Smith mother Ann Cotton. No location provided and for some reason I don't see a related civil record.
This record would be a better lead

Thanks Roger. Yes I agree the second record sounds more promising. We are coming to Ireland in June for a holiday (not just family history) but whilst we are there we are going to visit the area. Are there any records offices or heritage centres that would cover New Ross we could visit. Regards Caroline

Usually when I check Roots Ireland, the address for the county Heritage Center is provided. For some reason, no address info is provided on the Co. Wexford page. Here are a couple sites which may be helpful.
