I would like to find information relating to John Fenlon married to Mary Cullen, Ballygalvert, circa 1859-1864, a marriage record for them if possible, and their children, particularly their daughter Elizabeth Fenlon, born sometime between 1877-1883.  Spelling may also be Fenelon.

Many thanks.

  • Hi Anne-Marie, A John Fenlon married a Mary Cullen in Templeudigan on 15th September 1862, no more information than that I'm afraid. These records are on micro film at Wexford County Library, you may get more information on their website. An Eliza Fenlon was christened on 17th April 1880 she was daughter of John and Mary Fenlon nee Cullen. Sorry no more information except the Ballgalvert address you have. Her birth cert should be found at the General Registry Office, Convent Road, Roscommon, Co.Roscommon, Ireland see website. Hope this helps, Gloria.

  • Hi Gloria,

Many thanks for your message regarding John Fenlon/Mary Cullen's marriage in 1862 Templeudigan.  Did you come across any other Fenlon children born to them pre-civil registration?  I have picked up a Bridget (1867), Ellen (1870), Hugh (1982) and of course ELizabeth (1880).  I do know there is a Mary Josephine and a Catherine (who I think may have been born before 1864).   I am also trying to find the burial place for Elizabeth (Fenlon) Bond (b 1880) who died in April 1907 in Dublin, she was married to a John Bond, she is not buried in Deasngrange, Mount Jerome or Glasnevin, as I have checked all of these.  She may have been brought back to Wexford, i.e. Templeudigan.   I did look at the parish records on microfilm for Templeudigan/Rathnure in NLI in Dublin but they were in a sorry state!!  Some are missing.  However, not sure if the records after 1900 are still in the Church's possession in Templeudigan??

    Appreciate any help!

    Thanks again

  • Hi Anne Marie,

I have some possible other children for John Fenlon/ Mary Cullen from Templeudigan. My great grandfather was Hugh Fenlon who resided in Ballywilliam and was buried in Templeudigan. I have no definate parents for him, only family hearsay. I did come across a Hugh Fenlon born 1872 in Templeudigan to John Fenlon and Mary Cullen so I have them as possible parents. I know of one definate sister for Hugh and that was Mary born 1874 and again I found a record for a Mary born to John and Mary in Templeudigan. Could there be a link with your family tree?

  • Hi Jess,

Many thanks for your message regarding the Fenlons of Templeudigan.  I am carrying out research on behalf of a client, whose great grandmothrer was Elizabeth Fenlon who was born in Templeudigan in 1876/8 to the same parents as Hugh Fenlon, your greatgrandfather, so they were brother and sister.  I have checked her marriage record and it gives the correct names of her parents as John Fenlon and Mary Cullen.  There were several other children to this marriage as well.  Elizabeth Fenlon married a John B Bond in the early 1900s and they had one child Mary.  Unfortunately Elizabeth Fenlon Bond died in Dublin around 1906/7 and we don't know where she is buried.  I have checked ALL Dublin cemetary records for her and nothing at all.  Thought perhaps she may have been brought back to Templeudigan to be buried there?  Her daughter May Bond was sent to live with Elizabeth's sister Catherine in Kilkenny after Elizabeth died.  If you would like to contact me on email at: ams.intothepast@gmail com, I could put you in touch with Elizabeth's great grandson?  If anyone in your family knows of Elizabeth's burial place, that would be great.

    Thanks again.
