I am tracing the parents of my great-grandfather Lawrence York, born in Wicklow in 1853. He stated that his father was also Lawrence York.
He migrated to Bolton, England as a young man.
Thank you

The 1854 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing only shows three York entries in Co. Wicklow. All three were in Carriglinneen townland in Knockrath civil parish. Not sure of their connection to Lawrence York.

I have an ancestor by the name of Nellie (Helen?) York from the area, who married Patrick Carty and lived in Kirikee. Other than her name appearing in baptismal registers, I don't know anything about her or her family. Would you have, perhaps, done a DNA test of some sort? It would be interesting to see if there are any tangible connections between our families, or to others from the area.
Thanks, Tom
