Thomas Connor and Elizabeth Teahan

The townlands you mentioned sounded unfamiliar--not names from the Parish of Duagh, so I checked the parishes of these localities on: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlker/towna.html

Spellings are inconsistent, so I tried to match the townlands with their parishes. This is what I came up with:

Note there are 2 Duaghs. The Duagh in the Duagh Parish (which this message board represents). The other is in the parish of Killney. Duagh in the parish Duagh is represented by the blue and the one denoted in purple is Duagh in the parish Killney. The circles in red represent the parishes of the other townlands.

While I may be wrong, but I think a connection with Duagh in Duagh Parish or Duagh in Killiney Parish is a remote possiblity. In the late 1850s to early 1860s my GG Grandfather had children in 4 adjacent townlands within the Duagh Parish. The locals thought that was an unusual amount of relocation.

I think a link to either Duagh is unlikely.

I was contacted by Trish via email regarding some of these questions. Here is my response:

Part of what makes this interesting is that Civil and Catholic Parishes do not appear to correspond in your section of Kerry see below:  Catholic Parishes (only map I could find is contemporary)  Granted, the old Catholic Parishes may be different from contemporary, but I think that the current map is pretty close. I am trying to parse out your query. This is what I believe you are presenting: Thadeus Connor Married Joanna Kevane of Gortaleen, Kilgarrylander at Castlemaine, in the civil parish of Kiltallgh:They had the following children: 

• Bridget 1816 (I'm not finding this one anywhere)
• Thomas 1822, Ballyfinnane, Civil Parish of Molahiffe, Catholic Parish of Castlemaine
• Mary 1826 Cnucbrack [Knuckbrack], Civil Parish of Mohaliffe, Catholic Parish of Castelmaine
• John 1830 Keellea, Civil Parish of Mohaliffe, Catholic Parish of Castlemaine

 The above checks out fine by me except Bridget who I cannot find. Next generation Thomas Connor from above married Elizabeth Teahan of Ballyfinnane, Civil Parish of Mohaliffe, Catholic Parish of Castlemaine in 1842.This makes sense to me. Now to their children: 

• Mary 1846 Gurtshanofough, Kileentierna (Both Civil and Catholic)
• Charles 1848 I cannot find
• Maurice 1854 I cannot find
• Margaret 1855 Camp, Civil Parish of Ratass, Catholic Parish of Tralee (This would be the only record outside the Kileentierna and Castleisland Parishes. I would like more confirmation myself. Perhaps you have other records). 

 This is a tough call. Mary certainly seems to fit. The Irish recycling of names makes it harder. Keep in mind that parish records are not necessarily complete. I know that in the case of Duagh, many pages have deteriorated to the point they are illegible. William and Elizabeth of Duagh? This doesn't make sense to me. First, Duagh is well outside their sphere. Secondly the Mother's name is given as Elizabeth O'Connor not Elizabeth Teahan. In Duagh there were a lot of Connors and O Connors. I know in my family my GGG Grandparents were both Connors.  I'm going to post my response on Ireland XO so that other might have a look. I'm in the US. Perhaps someone from Ireland can chime in. Steve
