  • Hi there,

Here is a little information to help get you started: http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/surname/index.cfm?fuseaction=Go.&Surname=Melia&UserID= You will notice that the name O'Melia is quite rare, but the name Melia is more common, especially in County Mayo.

You could also check the frequency of the name in the 1911 and 1901 census records here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

Hopefully, other members of the O'Melia clan will connect with you here.

Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

    Kind regards,
