I understand the difficulty in finding a connection with the little information I have. I am looking for any information on James Murphy born either Jan. 1 1815 or Dec.10, 1817. he immigrated to the US around 1840. I have records of him in Canada from 1850 until his death and am trying to find a connection to Ireland.

  • Good Morning. Many thanks for your genealogy message.

Do you have any information on which county. I note you posted this message in Co Kerry. Do you have a link to Co Kerry for James Murphy.

Some websites based around Co Kerry that may help.

  • Hi,

The only James Murphy I could find was born in Knuckpogue, Causeway on 7th Jan 1815 to Dermot Murphy and Honora Flaherty. Do you have any more family names eg. his childrens names as they often provide clues?

  • As far as family history goes James came to the US and then to Canada alone. The same names were used every generation; James, Michael, Thomas, Edward, Sarah, Elizabeth, John & Stephen. There was one unusal name a few generations after the first James, D'Arcy. I have often wondered if it was a family place name or a maiden name. There was never any talk about it. Thanks for any help it is really a long shot.
