Looking for Mentons from Wexford

I am looking for descendents of my G Granddad Thomas Menton from Co Wexford and family stories say we came from Gorey area.

I have already posted on the Gorey parish but Toome  [Camolin], has arisen with names of Menton and a particular name Peter Mentan which is also the name of my granddad Peter Menton

There is a Patrick Menton listed on Griffiths Valuation in 1853 for ah,ouse and small garden in the parish of Toome, in the townland of Ballyduffbeg. This is also Camolin parish today.

The only further information I can give is the following from Brian Cantwell’s Memorials of the Dead:

Erected by Peter Menton [Clon?Jallen* in memory of his children, Mary died Sep 1 5?] 1851,

also Anne died Sep 20 1858.

i) Erected to the memory of Peter Mentan Clonsilla who died 31st Jan 1881 aged 77 years, also his wife Mary who died 5th June 1864 aged 44 years, also his son John who died 10th Dec 1879 aged 18 years, also his daughter Mary who died 17th Feb 1871 aged 19 years, also his three children who died young.

ii) I can find no other Mentons/Mentans/Mantans in Cantwell’s records in any other graveyards.

*This might be Clonattin, in Gorey.”

There are civil records for marriages for a Peter Mentaan marriage in Gorey on 29 July 1850 who was a steward and Peter Mantan marriage in Gorey on 28 Nov 1877 who was a herder…both records are for the same person I am sure.

There is also a marriage for Mary Mantan in Gorey in 1870 whose father was Peter and a herder, and this is the Mary and Peter Menton mentioned on the grave inscriptions as far as I can see.
