After researching several records in the USA I am now trying to find out more about this family in Ireland
James Miles (Myles) born @1815 married @1834 Bridget Doolan (Doolen) born @1815
Son- William born January 1837 at Parish of Rathnure county of Wexford according to his statement on his US Civil War Pension records. He also states that he immigrated with his family to US via New York in @1848.
Son- Patrick born @1841 county of Wexford states that he immigrated with his family to New York in 1849-1850.
A brother to James Miles is William Miles born @1810. He is living with James in Ontario Co NY in 1855 and declares on his Naturalization declaration papers that he was born in Parish of Killan county of Wexford. He states he immigrated from the city of Wexford in 1849.
I believe this family of of Roman Catholic faith. Have previously contacted the secretary at the Ferns Diocese who then contacted the Rathnure parish priest. There has been no response to request for research, either by mail, email or telephone.
Any connection to family or assistance is appreciated!

Hi Scharri, You are just out of luck with St.Anne's Rathnure records as they only start circa 1847. Prior to that the records woud be of Cloughbawn/Killegney parish as that parish was divided c,1852 and Rathnure/Templeudigan made a parish of its own. The Doolan (Dooley family) still live in the area, but to my knowledge no Miles. I do not know if they have any knowledge of their ancestors who emigrated. My advice would be to contact a lady named Celestine Rafferty who helps with genealogy at WEXFORD COUNTY LIBRARY, Wexford town, Co.Wexford, or you could write to that address, you will find their e-mail address on the web. I suggest that it is very unlikely you will get a reply from most clergy now as they are extremely busy and would not have time to go through records, anyway what you require is not available in Rathnure, they do not go back far enough. Search in Cloughbawn/Killegney Catholic records. Try the DOOLEY spelling as well. Hope this helps. G.B.

Thank you for your wonderful information. I will try to contact the library and see what else they can find for me. Plus I will shift my focus in parishes.
