Do you have any important dates that would help establish a timeframe for your research? Dates of birth for example.

You could try searching for information on Patrick and his family in church and land records.

Most Catholic records are held locally. One website which may be helpful is the irishtimes where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Fermoy parish follow this link:

There are two land records pertaining to Ireland in the 19th century.:

The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp

and Griffith's Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

You could also do a search of the 1901 and 1911 census records if the years are relevant to your search. These can offer a lot of useful information and can be searched here:

You could check Patrick's millitary records. A good place to start your search for these are the UK National Archives at the following link:

Hello,  My Patrick Goold was born in Fermoy about 1811.  He joined the Army in 1831 and went with his unit to South Africa in 1835.  There he married Ellen Collopy nee Childerhouse.  He never returned to Ireland.

Thank you for any help on his parents  Michael Henry and Elizabeth Goold (nee MAHONEY?)
