My name is Maria Bridges and I live in Pencoed Wales and have been interested in family history for many years, but tracing the family in Ireland has always been very difficult.
I am looking to find the baptism of my 3 x GGFather Philip Meskil/Miskel. He was born in Clare Ireland circa 1833, his father was a farmer named Michael Meskil/Miskel, they were Catholics. I am not absolutely certain of the parsh but I have looked up the Griffiths Valuation and Tithe applotments and found mention of a Michael Meskil in Kilchreest and Kilrush. Therefore I am posting this in hope of making connection perhaps with people sharing the same surname, or anyone who has knowledge of the family. Philip Married Ellen Barry in Merthyr Tydfil Wales in 1855. but I am nort sure the exact yearr he arrived here. I am happy to share information with any family members interested. Try Mescall or Mescal I think that is another common spelling of the same name which is very much a name from the south west of Clare
