Hi,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking for Patrick in the 1911 census records? These are available on line. I did a search of both a Patrick Dillon and Dillane and a couple of results came back where the age matched. Perhaps if you know other family members names you will know which is your Patrick. You can also search the 1901 census records for the same family.

You could also look for information on Patrick and his family in civil records. These records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:

You can search the indexes to these records online here:
https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
For more information on civil records and how to access them go to: http://www.irish-genealogy-toolkit.com/Irish-civil-registration.html
You may also be able to find information in Church records. Civil registration did not begin in Ireland until 1864, so for births, marriages , deaths before this period you have to look in church records.
Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. The civil parish of Galey is actually part of the Roman Catholic parish of Listowel, so this is where you will have to look. .One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Listowel parish, follow this link:
For information on Church of Ireland records check: http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/.
You could also search for the family in Griffith?s Valuation. This is a property valuation survey that was carried out in Ireland 1848-1864. Although it does not offer any genealogical information it will tell you if the family were in the area at the time:
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
There is also an earlier land record called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) that you could also search:

Some other websites that you may find useful are:
The National Archives of Ireland http://www.nationalarchives.ie/genealogy1/genealogy-records/introduction/
The National Library of Ireland http://www.nli.ie/en/family-history-introduction.aspx
The National Archives UK ? genealogy search: http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/
The Public Records Office of Northern Ireland http://www.proni.gov.uk/index/family_history.htm

I hope that this is helpful. Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
