Bryan Clancey (1815) married Honor Watts (1824) in KILLENUMMERY & KILLERRY on 7th August 1839. Their witnesses were Henry Watts and Mary Clancy. They emigrated to London and their first child Mary Ellen Clancy was born in London 1841. Their second son was Lawrence born London 1844. They must have returned to Sligo because there is a birth registered for Mary Ann in Sligo in 1847. Then they went to Liverpool and the 1851 cencus shows them with another two births Catherine and Michael in 1851 and Bernard in 1853.
Bryan Clancey died in Mount Pleasant Workhouse Liverpool in 1859 aged 44.
Has anyone any suggestions whatsoever regarding Bryan and Honor's respective families or exactly where they lived in Ireland?

Hi Julia,
Thank you for your message.
As Bryan and Honora were married in the parish of Killenummery and Killerry it may be possible that this is where Honora was from as usually marriages took place in the bride?s parish of origin.
Unfortunately, Catholic church records for the parish do not begin until c. 1828. You can see this at the Irish Times website:
I did a search for Watts that would have been in the general area in the Tithe Applotment Books. These are land records that were compiled between 1823 and 1837 in order to determine the amount which occupiers of agricultural holdings should pay in tithes to the Church of Ireland. Unfortunately, they offer no genealogical information so it can be hard to determine if the results are relevant or not. However, I did find a Patt Watts in St. John?s parish, which neighbours Killanummery parish, so it may be possible that this Watt may be some relation of Honora.
In the later land record called Griffith?s Valuation there are two Watts listed in St. John?s parish:
With regards to Bryan, in the Tithe Applotment Books there are records of two Clancey?s in Leitrim, both in Cloonclare parish.
There is also record of Clancey?s in Killanummery parish in the later Griffith?s Valuation:
Unfortunately, without having more information on the families it will be difficult to discern if theses records are relevant to your research.
Perhaps it may be a good idea to contact the Family History Centres in Leitrim and Sligo for further assistance, however a fee may apply. Here are their email addresses:
Leitrim: info@leitrimroots.com
Sligo: heritagesligo@eircom.net
Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
