Hi
I am a descendant of James Briody born c1834 in Oldcastle, Meath. He came to England and married Martha Pittam in Northampton in 1854. He died in Northampton in 1911. His father was Connor Briody who was a farmer. My father's cousin Irene says that he came from Castletown. Since it is so close to Oldcastle, this could be the Castletown which is in Lickbia parish. Are there any Briody gravestones there?

Hi Shelia,
Thank you for your message.
Have you tried looking in the 1901/1911 census records to see if there are any Briody?s recorded as living in the area at the time?

It may also be an idea to contact Meath Heritage Centre for assistance. Here is their email:
Also, the Local Studies Department of Meath Co. Library may be able to assist you:

Please be patient - as our programme has only begun to rollout across the island of Ireland and volunteers in some areas may not yet be organized.
Kind regards,
