Hi, I am looking for information on Thomas Moore born between 1864-1867. His parents names on the death certificate are difficult to decipher, but it looks like Jno Moore and Jannie Connor. He died in 1916. Thomas' marriage certificate from Luzerne County, PA USA says he was born Dec 1864. Census reports indicate he was born around 1867.
If anyone could help provide any information, I would greatly appreciate their help. I am planning to visit Ireland this summer and would really prefer to visit the areas of my ancestors. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Grace:
Civil registration of births started in Ireland in 1864. I checked for births registered for Thomas Moore for the years 1864-1867 but did not locate a record for the Ennis registration district. From my own personal experince, not all births are recorded particular for the early years of the initiative.

Hello Grace,
As you have posted on the Ennis page I assume you are sure of his county of birth. The civil records don't always contain the registration of all children. People were still wary of this, however in a staunchly catholic country most children were baptised so it's fair to say there should be a record for him.
Almost all of the church records are split between two sites www.rootsireland.ie and www.irishgenealogy.ie.
However Co. Clare is one of the few counties who have decided not to make their records available online.
You'll have to contact the Clare genealogy website yourself and ask them to do a search for you. Please keep an open mind regarding dates. Most people didn't have birth certs and only guessed their ages.
Regards,
Anne
