Hello, my name is Mary Connolly and I am researching my family tree. I have found out that my grandmothers brother married someone from this parish.

His name was Patrick J Connolly and he married a Margaret Geagan/Gegan from Tubber Co. Clare in 1910 in Gort Co. Galway. They lived in Gort. He was a carpenter and she had a confectioner's shop in Gort. He died in 1936 and she died in 1938. I understand that they had no children.

I believe that there is no more members alive of the Geagan/ Gegan family today. I would like to find out  where they lived and what became of them. And where they are buried.

I would like to find out all I can about this woman and her family. If there is anyone out there that could help me I would greatly appreciate it

I have no further information on Margaret Geagan/Gegan. I am not even sure of the spelling of the name.

I would love to find out what her parents names were.

    From the 1901 census, it appears that Margaret came from Poulataggle townland in Kilkeedy parish. There were four households in Poulataggle and three were Geagan/Gegan. Here are two of the records. Likely, one of these two is Margaret's family.

    Margaret was not there in 1901 and presumably working somewhere else. The 1911 census showed that some of the families spelled the name Geoghegan.

    I also located the 1911 census record for Patrick Connolly and Margaret in Gort.

  • Mary. I am researching Margaret Geagan from Gort and wondering ifits the same lady you were researching. Can you tell me how sure you are of the address you have for her as it seems there were a few ladies of the same name and age group in the same parish, and I would like to rule her out. My Margaret came from Knocktoby Beagh which isnt that far from Tubber. Thanks.
