Dear Lynne, 

In 1853, there is a William Gahan listed in Ballyseedy which is on the outskirts of modern day Tralee. If William was a name handed down in the family this might be relevant.

This is not a name I am familiar with but Gahan can also be found in Kenmare but no William.
