Hello .. .I would like to be able to find more information on a family named CAHILL and MOORE., from GOLDEN, Tipperary.
William CAHILL might have been born in The Abbey or Golden, Tipperary.. about 1835 .. give or take a few years.
William married Margaret MOORE (Born about 1840 I am assuming) some time before 1864 when I find the first child Ally born in 1864.
The children of the marriage that I have found on ancestry so far are :
Ally b. abt 1864 Golden, Tipp
Bridget Josephine Cahill b. about 1864 (came to Australia and I have her information from there)
Patrick Cahill b. about 1868 Golden, Tipp
Johana Cahill b. abt 1873 Golden, Tipp
Ellen Cahill b. abt 1875 Golden, Tipp
James Cahill b. abt 1877 Golden, Tipp
Hanora Cahill b. abt 1880 Golden, Tipp
Of all the children .. I cannot find the birth record of my great grandmother Bridget Josephine Cahill ... but her parents were definitely the same as these other children .. according to her immigration record into Australia.
She came to Australia in 1883 with cousins .. Michael and Margaret McGrath ... and their children ... however, I have not found any information on this family.
Hoping someone will be able to help me as I have gone as far as possible from this end . .down in Hobart :) ...

In the meantime, civil registration only began in Ireland in 1864. If Bridget was born in 1864 there should be a record of it in civil records. These are available are available from the General Register?s Office. Here is their website:

You could also try searching in church records for Bridget?s baptism record. Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. Have you tried looking for the Cahills and Moores in the land records pertaining to Ireland in the early-mid 19th century? There are two:
The Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1838) found at http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
and Griffith?s Valuation (1848-1864) found at http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Also, have you tried looking for record of those Cahills that stayed behind in the 1901/1911 census records? you can do this online here: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/
