My great-grandparents, Patrick Donnolly and Sarah Woods, were married November 7th, 1895 at the Roman Catholic Chapel of St. Mary's Clontibret in the county of Monaghan.

Patrick was listed as being of full age, a bachelor, a carpenter by trade, residing in the town of Cavancreevy.  His father was Thomas Donnolly, also a carpenter.

Sarah was listed as being 17 years of age, a spinster, residing in the the town of Cavancreevy. Her father was Edward Woods, a labourer by trade.

Laurence O'Kieran recorded the marriage, and Thomas McNaughton and Maggie Holland, were shown as witnesses.

I have been unable to find any other information about the Donnolly family and would appreciate any help provided. I do know that Patrick and Sarah had one child, Thomas (my grandfather), and that he was born in Glasgow, Scotland. The three of them left Scotland to come to the United States around 1902, settling in New York City, with Sarah's brother, Edward.

More information was available for the Woods family.  Sarah's parents were Edward Woods and Catherine Woods (nee McQuade). Her siblings were Anne( born July 14th, 1869),  Edward (born Feb.12th, 1872),  Rose Ann (born March 3rd, 1867), Michael (born Nov. 29th, 1864) and Catherine (born 1884).

I would love to hear of any additional information.

Thank you,

Rosemary Donnolly
