I am looking for Sharkey or Beirne family members that have information on John Sharkey b:abt 1814 and his wife Margaret Beirne. John had 3 sons (John, Martin and Michael) with his 1st wife (Margaret Lowe) then he remarried Margaret Beirne and had 7 children. The youngest children Elizabeth b:1866 and William b:1869 remained in the Roscommon area while their older siblings immigrated to Indiana, USA.
Elizabeth married James Dwyer and had 7 children and William married Margaret Dwyer (James's sister) and they had 9 children. Both families are listed in the 1901 & 1911 Irish Census.
I have collected information on the family after 1840 but I have found it hard to verify John and his wives' parents. The family lived in Ardmore (Townland) just north of Croghan.
Thanks,
Bob Bertram

Bob:
You may want to check the Tithe Applotment records for Killukin parish. I found three Lowe records in Killukin parish. http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp
Here is the 1855 Griffiths Valuation head of Hosuehold listing for Killukin parish.

In Croghan RC records the Sharky family was also sometimes recorded as Shercott, Sharcut, and Sharkett in early records.
See Patt Sharky & Brigid Farrell – parents of John Sharkey (1814-1869) of Ardmore.
We'd love if you added your Sharkey ancestors to the Killukin parish roll-call and attached them to the townland of Ardmore HERE.

My Beirne family came from Bella near Ballinameen. According to the Griffith's evaluation, their farm was right across the road from a family named Sharkey.
