I need help seaching for Patrick O'Donnell and his family. Patrick was born in Limerick about 1835. I have been told that he was married in BallyHahill or lived there. He married Ellen Crowe from County Cork. They came to Australia on the ship 'Escort' that departed from Plymouth in 1859. He was listed as 25years & Ellen as 22 an agricultural labourer from Limerick.
Census records for the years 1821 to 1851 were pretty much destroyed in the big fire. I dont know where else to look.
If anyone can help I would appreciate it so much.
Thank you, Di Tate.

Hi Di,
www.rootsireland.ie/ has a record of the marriage of Patrick 'Donnell' and Ellen Crowe in Limerick in 1859 (parish was not Solohead & Oola RC - see below). Ballyhahill wasn't among the list of parishes.
I couldn't find a birth record for Ellen Crowe in Cork but there is 1 in Limerick in 1835 - parish is 'Solohead and Oola RC'.
There are 6 birth records of Patrick O'Donnell in 1835 in Limerick and more if you search a wider range of years.
The Tithe Applotments (1823-37) are free to search online and has are 42 O'Donnells in Limerick - no mention of Ballyhahill though. There are also 56 Crowes.
Griffiths Valuation 1850 Limerick has 753 O'Donnells & 150 Crowes.
So for want of other sources you might want to try rootsireland but it does cost to view records.

Hi Col
I have comes across a Church Marriage Record on rootsireland for Patrick Donnell & Ellen Crowe dated 23 Jan 1859 PARISH, Loughill in County Limerick.
I think it is them. I think he dropped the O or added it when he came to Australia.
I have joined the Facebook group County Limerick Ireland Genealogy and have found it so very helpful, lots of suggestions. This was one of them.
Thank you again,
Regards, Di.
