Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has any information on Dennis Doolan (1794-1866) who married Ellen Moran (1798-1878). They were from County Clare and their children were Denis (1810-1895) James (1813-1857) Michael (1816-1898) John (1818-1874) Mary Ellen (1821-1911) Catherine (1824-1909) and Patrick (1826-1901).
Kind regards,
Angela Doolan.

Thank you for your response Jane. I have checked the message boards but am not getting any clear leads from the information there. How do I join the Clare Reaching Out webpage?
Kind regards,
Angela.

Dear Angela:
if you look at the right side of the Clare Page , you will see an orange Join button. That should get you started. I have emailed the other two people with Doolan connections. I will follow up with them.
Kind regards,
Jane

Hi Jane,
I thought I had joined?? Isn't this thread coming through on the County Clare message board?
Kind regards,
Angela.

Hi Angela:
yes, you have joined. If you know the parish that Dennis Doolan came from , you can also join that. If you type in James Doolan into the search box for messages, you will be able to look through to see who else is searching for Doolan family members.
Kind regards,
Jane

Hi Angela
I am a descendant of James Doolan 1794 and Margaret nee Hayes 1798 who migrated to Australia in 1852.
Their children were : - John born 1832 (did not travel with parents)
Mary 1834
Ann 1835
Martin 1837
Michael 1839
James 1841
This family came from County Clare and I believe from the Kilinaboy area.James snr had a brother John and a sister Ann and welcome the opportunity to compare knowledge as I am told it is not a prevalent name in Ireland.

Hi Leo (Cuz??!!)
The details of our branches are on ancestry.com
Perhaps your James and our Dennis were brothers?? We have no other information on his siblings (yet).
Our ancestors are Dennis Doolan (1794-1866) who married Ellen Moran (b.1798 from Balrothery, Dublin d. 25 Feb 1878 in Sydney, Australia).
Their children were Denis (b.1810 Ballynahown d.1895 )James (b.1813 Ballynahown d.1857 Ballynahown) Michael (b.1816 Ballyvaughn d.-5 Jul 1898 Manitowoc, Wisconsin, USA) John (b.1818 Ballyvaughn d. 1874) Mary Ellen (b. 9 Mar 1821 d. 27 Nov 1911 Goulburn, NSW, Australia) Catherine (b.1824 Ballyvaughn d.26 Mar 1909 Orange, NSW, Australia) Patrick (b. 1826 Ballyvaughn d. Jun 1901 Clare, Ireland.)
Hope we can find out what the connection is.
Kind regards,
Angela Doolan.

I would like to update on this family thread as it contains errors. Denis Doolan and Erin Moran are not the parents of Denis b 1810, James b 1813 and John b 1818. The parents of these 3 are currently unknown. Denis Doolan b 1794 may be an uncle to these three and not the father as initially thought. My father has recently had his ydna test done and it seems that our oldest known Doolan ancestor - James Doolan b 1813 is in fact genetically a Clancy. Have you had your ydna tested Leo? That would be very interesting to see if this is the outcome for your line of Doolan's also.
Kind regards,
Angela.
