I am looking for information on my GGP Daniel (Donal) Sullivan born around 1850 and Abigail O'Connell born April 13, 1852. I have information on their children but have had no luck going further back to both of their (Daniel and Abigail) parents. I have found the 1901 and 1911 Census showing both of them living in Bunaderreen Townland, Dromod Parish, Cahirsiveen. I believe they were married in 1870. No record of when they died. Appreciate any help. Kevin Sullivan

Kevin:
I looked for the civil marriage index record with no success. I looked for a civil death index record for Abigail between 1901 and 1911 with no success. I found five possible civil death index records for a Daniel Sullivan born around 1844 (using the age in the 1911 census) in the Cahersiveen registration district. The year of birth and death for the five are shown below. if you want the particulars for some or all of the records to request a copy of the death record from the GRO, let me know.

Thanks Roger for your quick response. Will the names of their children help narrow the number of death records? Also, what type of info is available on the death record? Are there fees with requesting information from the GRO?

Kevin:
A death record shows the date, name, marital status, occupation, cause of death, age, location and the informant's name. A copy of a record costs around 4 euros (roughly $5.50) plus there is a minimal foreign tranaction fee. I think my bank charges $.16. The names of the children will not help with determining which record. By the way, is it possible that Abigal had a different first name?

Thanks Roger. I only have 1 reference to Abigail so I cannot say for sure if there were other possible names.

Kevin:
With a name like Abigail, it is usually easy to find index records. Since I could not locate a birth or marriage record, I'm wondering if she had another name.

Hi Roger,
Trying a different route now with my Grandmother (born December 3, 1878), Mary Casey. This link is from the Ireland Census in 1901.

I believe my Grandparents (GF-Michael Sullivan (April 25, 1881) both appear in the 1901 Census

and then move to Newport, RI, USA in the early 1900s.

Kevin, I don't know how I missed your post and you may be long gone by now but this query really intrigued me.
it makes sense.... Abigail is Abbie in the Census. Sadly she has died by 1911 but that may have made it easier for you to find a death cert..if her death was registered. ( I agree with Roger, it looks likely she had another name) Abigail is a wool spinner, there are only 180 in Kerry in 1901.

Hope you see this and let us know how you got on

Martine:
I found Kevin's e-mail address from 2013 and sent him a message alerting him to your comment. Hopefully, his e-mail address has not changed and he responds.
