My name is Ivan McKeag, living in Cape Town, born in Holywood, I think in Park Drive, in 1947. My father was William McKeag, married to Isobel Childs Hainon, both now deceased. I am trying to find out more about my paternal grandparents. My grandfather was also William McKeag and I think born 1886, died 1950, but this is an educated guess. His wife was Ellen, I think born 1884 but again just a deduction. I am eager to find out her maiden name and birth/death dates, and the birth/death dates of my grandfather. I believe they lived in Trevor Street. It would also be wonderful if I could find out their marriage date and place.
Trawling the recommended websites has been fruitless, they have limited information and mostly tell you to go to the relevant office and do a physical search, which I can't, so I am hoping that this message will be read by someone who has a link to these families, or was a friend, or who would be interested enough to have a wee look at records in the church or registry.
Well, thank you for reading this,
kind regards

Ivan,
This seems likely to be your grandfather and Ellen in 1911:

He married Ellen Steenson in Belfast Apr ? Jun 1905 Volume 1, page 285.
You can order a photocopy from GRO Roscommon for ?4 per certificate. Put the place, year, quarter (where there is one), volume & page number on the application form (anywhere). Don?t worry about leaving some boxes blank. You don?t need to fill them all in if you have the reference details. http://www.groireland.ie/ You have to post or fax the form to them but they will e-mail the copy certificate to you if you wish. Tick the relevant box on the form.
This is probably Ellen in 1901:
Her father?s name was John.
This seems to be William in 1901:

Birth, death and marriage records in Northern Ireland from 1.1.1922 onwards are not on-line anywhere, so if you want to trace forward, you?ll need to contact GRONI in Belfast who have those records.
