Mahoneys in Parish of "Currans"

John Mahoney/Mahony is a fairly common name in Co. Kerry. You may want to look at www.irishgenealogy.ie which has a good number of Co. Kerry baptismal and marriage records. Not sure if they have RC records for the area around Currans.

I looked in the Tithe applotment listings www.titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie but did not locate any Mahoneys in Currans parish.

I assume you have the death record for John and no parents are listed?

I believe the Denis Mahoney born in April 1851 is my Great Grandfather and I am under the impression at this point that your John Mahoney might have been his Uncle? I would love to share any information that I can.

I forgot to ask...do you know what your Great Great Grandmother's name was? Do you know what year John went to America? Do you know where he lived in America was it always Iowa?...sometimes those records contain information also and I think America seems to have kept good records with immigration, naturalization, etc,.

Hi Kim!  They indeed may be related.  John's wife was Margaret Collins, known as Peg.  I have a naturalization record that says they immigrated in 1852, although a Johnson County Iowa bio says it was 1850.  

A handwritten family doc mentions John's parents are Dennis and Honorah Reidy, although I haven't been able to find any proof.  I'm hoping someone may have further info or I come across baptism records.
