Hi my mane is Catherine Harrowfield I am fom South Australia, trying to tace my family. do not know much. My great grandfather Michael Dee married Ester Connor (believe her cert name was Ester Cronin, understand spelling mistakes were common back than.) They were married on 16th February 1858, in Duagh
They had a son John who married Ellen Larkin on the 4th of May 1883 in Duagh. A couple of weeks later they departed for Australia. Ellens parents were John Larkin and Margaret Murphy do not know if they belonged to the Duagh Parish.
What I am trying to find out is
1. Where Michael and Ester lived
2. Michael's occupation
3. Did John have any other siblings
4.Who Michaels parents were and did he have other siblings
5. Who esters parents were and were there other siblings.
If anybody can help me with any information it would be greatly apprieciated.
I have tried irish roots, ansetory.com, census and have been unable to find anything.
thank you Catherine

Hi Catherine,
Catholic records from Co. Kerry have been uploaded free of charge to the Irish Genealogy website. I did a quick search for Michael and Ester?s wedding and found this records:
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/e2023d0547132
It doesn't give a lot of information but does mention the names of the witnesses who must be somehow related to the couple. perhaps they are their brothers. It also mentions Taur as a place name. I could not find Taur anywhere, however there is a townland in Duagh called Toor, which I assume is just a different spelling:
I also did a search on the land record called Griffith?s Valuation to see who was recorded as living in the parish 1848-64. There are no Dee?s recorded however there are 3 Cronins-one of which is James:
Here are the Michael Dee?s recorded in Griffith?s:
Irish Genealogy also records the marriage of John Dee to Helen Larkin (variation of Ellen). It states John as being from Duagh and Ellen as being from Lismore. It also gives their father?s names and the names of witnesses:

Perhaps you may be able to find some more relevant records at this site that may help answer some of your questions or at least give you some new clues.
Kind regards,

I put up a post in 2014 and 2018 re Larkin brothers Matthew and James Larkin from Duagh they were born 1773 and 1778 respectivly. I now know that they had a brother John 1775 and he was buried in Duagh. His is the oldest Larkin name on a large trible grave. The only Larkin grave in the whole graveyard.
I can see from records that his decendants lived in Rathea and Listowel. I would like to make contact with anyone in the area interested in genealogy. Better still if your name is Larkin. I can be contacted at staridian@gmail.com
