I believe that I have found the marriage record of my great-great-great grandparents Thomas Geoghegan and Elizabeth Buckley. And it is the one and only official record that I have found in Ireland:
Name: Thomas Geoghegan
Event Type: Marriage
Event Date: 27 Jun 1838
Spouse's Name: Elisa Buckly
Parish: Kilcloon, Batterstown and Kilcock
Diocese: Meath
County: Meath and Kildare
First Witness: Peter Dolan
Second Witness: Mary Buckly
They had eight children, four of which died at a young age, all allegedly born in County Cork, but we have found no evidence of that. However, an 1861 census found Eliza living in Lancashire with Laurence, Patrick, Charles, and John Francis, and it stated that the two oldest boys (Laurence and Patrick) were born in Westmeath and the two youngest boys (Charles and John Francis) were born in New York:
- Laurence Geoghegan 16 July 1840
- Patrick Geoghegan 19 March 1842
- John Geoghegan 24 June 1844 - 27 July 1847
- Charles Thomas Geoghegan 10 July 1846
- Margaret Geoghegan 5 May 1848 - 1 June 1848
- John Francis Geoghegan 6 May 1849
- Mary Geoghegan 1 December 1853 - 27 September 1857
- Elizabeth Geoghegan 28 December 1855 - 18 January 1856
I think that I found a ship record that shows Elizabeth coming to the United States in 1867 with Charles and John Francis, which would make sense if they were born in New York. My great-great grandfather was Charles, and he married Anna Healy in Brooklyn in August of 1877, but I can find no record of that. He then moved to Wisconsin, and I know his story from that point forward. We believe that his brother John Francis died in a horrible train accident along with four others on May 29, 1878. The story was covered in two New York and two Brooklyn newspapers. I have no information about what happened to Laurence and Patrick; however, I found a Laurence living two houses away from John Francis' residence in Brooklyn, but his dates are way off in some records.
I would love to find some information about where Thomas and Eliza lived in Ireland.

Hi,
Thanks for your message. I hope that someone recognises the family and helps you with your research.
I did a search for Patrick on www.rootsireland.ie.
I narrowed the search to the year of birth , Co. Westmeath and father?s name and one result came back. However, you need to buy credits to view the actual record. It may or may not be relevant, however if it was it would help tie the family to a parish.

I also searched for Laurence however could find no results.
If some of the children were born in Cork you may be able to find some record here:
http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/
However only records from some parts of Cork are included at the above link.
I also did a search for THomas in Griffith?s Valuation in Westmeath. Here are the Thomas? that were living in Westmeath in 1854:
I hope this helps in some way,
