Mulroy

So far I have found many of my Mulroy ancestors in the Straide (Strade) area.

My gr-gr-grandparetnts: Michael Mulroy 1811-1879 Hanoria Mulroy 1814-1880, are both buried in the Straide Abbey Cemetery.

My gr-grndfather: James Mulroy: 1856-1907. He died in Jersey City, New Jersey

Some of his siblings: Patrick,Michael, and Thomas (Michael was married to Honor Mulroy)

Michael and Honor's Children: Mary, Maggie, Honor, Michael, Patrick, James, Annie, Thomas and Owen.

I think Patrick and Michael stayed in the Straide area (Bellvary). James went to England and Married Margaret (also from Ireland) and 1873, then with their 5 children went to the USA and settled in Jersey City. I really don't know anything more about Thomas Mulroy. All the brothers were born in the 1850s.

Naturally I have many cousins here in the US, but really want to find some more of my family in Mayo.

My cousin and I are coming to Ireland in June. We will be visiting Straide, and can't wait.

It may be an idea to contact the local parish priest in Straide before your visit and to make an appointment with him if possible. He may be able to assist you with regards to records and he also may know of any Mulroys still in the area. Here is a link to their contact page:
