I'm searching for information on Charles McCallig (U.S. Spelling is McCallick) who was born in 1835 in Donegal. Unfortunately I don't have his parent's names or the name of the parish in which he was born. Charles left Ireland for the U.S. around 1855 and settled in Wilkes Barre, PA. His wife was Mary Rose, also of Ireland. I'm trying to uncover the names of Charles' parents and relatives in Donegal, and location of his birth.
While Griffiths Valuation lists many McCalligs/McColligs living in the northern part of Donegal, the 1901 Census lists half of the McCalligs living in Killaghtee parish.
I think Charles was related to James McCallig born in Donegal in 1848. I'm not sure if Charles and James were cousins or brothers. James' father was John (possibly Neal) McCallig. James married Bridget Brazor in 1868 in Inver and they left Ireland for Wilkes Barre, PA in the 1870's.
Unfortunately, this is all I know about Charle's orgins. I'd really appreciate any help you can give me!

Killaghtee is right beside Dunkineely and Bruckless (close to Killybegs). There are still McCalligs there. I think Dunkineely has a Facebook page, it may be worth contacting the adminstrator.
