Patrick and Bridget/Brigid O'Brien (nee Sexton - her father was Philip Sexton (grocer) and her mother's maiden name was Margaret Ringrose) sailed to Australia on The Negotiator ex Liverpool in 1857. Three children accompanied them - Sarah, Michael Henry (my ggrandfather) and John Boromond. Left behind were Daniel Millison, Mary, Patrick and Ann. There may even be others of which I am not aware. All were literate. Am trying to find out/verify birth dates, marriages and deaths of this family. I have the death details of those who were in Australia. I travelled to Ireland in 2012 and went to Ennis to research both at the library and births, deaths, marriages. Also the National Library in Dublin. No luck. My search is for areas around Scarriff as my ggrandfather, Michael, was a teacher in Australia and I have copies of his records - on which it is stated that he taught at the school in Scarriff - which would make him a pupil/student teacher. I contacted the Catholic School in Scarriff and they gave me the e-mail of the Parish of Killaloe who gave me a priest's e-mail address but I've not received a response. So I am looking for some extra help please. Can anyone assist? Many thanks.

Hi Valerie,
Thanks for your message.
Unfortunately, Catholic records in Scarriff do not start until 1852:
It may be an idea to contact the Clare Heritage Centre for some assistance or advice. However a fee may apply:
In the meantime, you may find the Clare Co. Library?s genealogy page helpful as they have an excellent family history collection. Here is the link:

Hi Valerie,
Here are the Scarriff baptisms I could find.

And, only one Ringrose marriage, I assume the alias is her real maiden name and Rogers is her first marriage name. I may have that backwards. I did see the alias Ringrose also among the baptismal sponsors.

Hope that helps, will check the Feakle records too.
