Hi;
We are looking for information on Mary Darcy who died in Kilfinane on 8-June-1870 according to Roots Ireland.
She might have been married to James Darcy.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Dear Win
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out and apologies for the delay in replying to your message.
As you can see from the link below, Kilfinane is a Civil Parish in Co. Limerick:
Records for the corresponding Roman Catholic Parish of Kilfinnane begin in 1832. As this is the case you should be able to find a baptism and civil birth record for Mary Darcy on the sites suggested below. Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 (generally speaking) so a civil birth record will confirm the name of her parents and place of birth:
www.familysearch.org has a huge database of genealogical records including some church records for Ireland.
www.rootsireland.ie have a large collection of Irish Church records, however you have to pay to use this site.
Other important sources include the Tithe Applotment Books and Griffith?s Valuation. Even though they only name the head of household, the information is important:
Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1837): http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/index.jsp
Griffith?s Valuation (1847-1864): http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/
Another website that may be helpful is:
The National Archives of Ireland: http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/ you can search the 1901/1911 Census on the National Archives page too for instances of the family name at that time
For your interest, there are some Darcys buried here:
http://historicgraves.com/familysearch_map?term=&name=&surname=Darcy&in…;
Remember to post any new information that you find here. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.
Best of luck with your search

Hi, I hope you see this.
I am from a D'arcy family in County Tipperary and a member of the family has carried out years of genealogical research on the D'arcy family.
My GGGG uncle James Darcy and his wife Mary (b. circa 1814 and also originally from Tipperary) lived in Kilfinane and they had at least four children; James, John, Mary and Alice.Might this be the family you are trying to research?

Hello Fiona:
My name is Faustina O'Malley and thank you for responding to my husband Win's message from March 17, 2014. I will give you the information that I have and it would be wonderful if you could perhaps help me out regarding the Mary Darcy (maiden name Fitzgerald) that I am researching.
Mary Fitzgerald BORN approx. 1790 in Irleand and DIED June 8, 1870 in Kilfinane, Co. Limerick, Ireland
Mary MARRIED James Maley BORN approx. 1760 in Irleand. James DIED June 11, 1826 and is BURIED in Co. Limerick, Ireland (Caherconlish Parish). Mary and James Maley had a son (my great grandfather) James Maley Jr. who was BORN approx. 1813 in Tipperary, Ireland. James Jr. was BAPTIZED December 18, 1813 in Co. Limerick, Knockainy & Patrickswell Parish. I don't know if they had any other children. James Maley Jr. immigrated to Canada in 1846 and came by ship.
Mary (after her husband James Maley died) got REMARRIED to James Darcy April 2, 1842 in Co. Limerick, Ireland (Kilbehenny Parish). James Darcy was BORN appox. 1799 in Ireland and DIED Approx. 1869 in Co. Limerick, Ireland. I don't know if they had any children. I have no idea if this is the same Mary Darcy (Fitzgerald/Maley/Darcy) you've done research on but it would be wonderful to find out. I look forward to hearing from you.
