Hi,
I'm looking for a bit more information on my great great grandfather Luke Devlin, who was a farmer in Drumraymond and died in 1879. His son Patrick, my great grandfather, who seems to have been born in 1830 (accounts vary) subsequently moved to Brecart, Duneane, having married a Mary Anne McCormick in County Cavan. I have been lucky enough to find Luke's will, but he appears to have been a widower by then and it throws no light on who might have been his wife (though I have been led to believe that it might have been one Nancy McKay). The will also mentions his stepdaughter, Elizabeth McDonnell. This may be her married name (I think it is, because she has a daughter).
If anyone can throw any more light on this shadowy little corner of my family tree, I'd be much obliged.

I located the 1901 and 1911 census records for the Patrick Devlin family although Patrick died between 1901 and 1911. The 1901 census reflects age 50 for Patrick but that was likely understated. I looked for death index records in the Ballymena registration district. There was a record for a Patrick born in 1832 and another for a Patrick born in 1830. They are below. There was also an index record for a Patrick born in 1825 and died in 1908 and another record for a Patrick born in 1854 and died in 1905. You can get a copy of a death record from the General Register Office for approximately 4 euros. if you are interested in getting a copy, let me know and I'll forward instructions.

Thank you Roger. I've actually got the death certificate for my great grandfather Patrick. He's the one who died in 1907. We can confirm that because the date is shown in the back of a family bible. As you say, the 1901 census shows him as being 50 but it's much more likely that he was 70 - presumably that's a mistranscription. He is certainly shown as 77 seven years later when he died. I believe he was quite a few years older than his wife as he is described as a widower on his marriage in 1884. I haven't been able to find an earlier marriage for him, though.
