My great-grandparents were Charles Boyle and Sarah Dowd Boyle. Their marriage was registered in Ballymoney, Ant., Ire, and the marriage date was 13 Aug. 1868, but I don't know the name of the Roman Catholic church they were married in. I chose Kilrea because most of their 12 children were born there: James in 1869, Martha in 1870 (Killimuck, Kilrea, Cty Derry), Patrick, 1873 (he is my grandfather), etc. I am hoping their church records will provide their parents names, etc. Thank you for your help.

Eileen:
You can write to the General Register Office and get a copy of the marriage record for around 4 euros. The civil marriage record will show the names of the fathers of the bride and groom and where the bride and groom were living in 1868. Instructions for ordering the record are below the index record.
The name of the church is St. Marys Drumagarner, Kilrea

First Name Charles Last Name Boyle Year 1868 Registered Quarter/Year 1868 Registration District Ballymoney Volume 11 Page 231 Potential Spouse Names Sarah Dowd Go to this link http://www.welfare.ie/en/Pages/Apply-for-Certificates.aspx In the middle of the page there are links for birth, marriage or death certificates. Hit the link for the form you want. You will likely get a screen asking for a User Name and Password. (This is a program bug that the GRO has to correct). Hit cancel and the appropriate form should come up. Print the form and complete the requested information. Also provide the information from the index record--quarter/year of the event, registration district and the volume and page number where the event is recorded. Make sure you ask for a copy which costs around 4 euros. ( A cert costs closer to 20 euros). You can also ask the GRO to e-mail the copy back to you.

Eileen,
I would follow Roger?s advice and get the civil certificate. It will normally contain much more information that you would get from the church records. RC marriage records tend just to have the couples names and their two witnesses (no parents names etc).
Ballymoney is the civil registration town for Kilrea, so if you are puzzled as to why the marriage appears in another county?s records, there?s no mystery. The catchment area straddles the two counties.

I'm very excited about finding family on here! Charles and Sarah Boyle were my great-grandparents too. My grandfather was their son John ( 1, April, 1875) who married and moved to Scotland in 1899. Please contact me and I'll share more. I have records of their children and , with help, have tracked down our great-great grandmother's grave and have photos.
