Looking at Griffiths valuations in 1850's I see Petty's in Mayo are in Kilmaine Beg, as Kilmaine is adjacent to Shrule this family may be connected to yours.

More recent records -the 1901-1911 Census show Pettys all living in Shrule

Thank you very much. That is the right family as George Petty was my 3x Gr Grandfather. I will search those websites. I am also looking for information on his daughter in law, Isabella sairs (Sears/Sayers, we have 3 different spellings). She also came from the same place and was married to Dominic Gaynard Petty.
