Hi all,
I'm brand new to this site, so apologies in advance if I've not followed the correct method of addressing you all!
I've recently started researching my family tree and have discovered Irish roots. My maternal 3rd great grandmother MARGARET FAWLEY came from Tipperary and I'd love to know if anyone has any further information to help me out with my research please?
The details I have of her so far -
Born c1833, she gave Tipperary as her place of birth on the first UK Census she appeared in 1861 but had married JOHN CAIN (also Irish but place of birth not known) in St Bede's RC church in Masbrough, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England on 28th December 1856 (her father is named on there as STEPHEN FAWLEY, I haven't got the original marriage certificate, this is a record from Ancestry.co.uk).
She passed away in Rotherham in 1913
I would appreciate it if anyone has any further info on Margaret Fawley, John Cain or Stephen Fawley or their famillies.
Thanks in advance,
Catherine Hall

Catherine:
I would suspect that her surname was Frawley in Ireland and the family likely came from the area around the town of Nenagh. The name Fawley was rare in Ireland in the 19th century and was mostly found in Co. Leitrim. There were, however, a good number of Frawleys in Co. Tipperary.
I could not find any record in Tithes or Griffiths for a Stephen Fawley or Frawley.
I did locate an 1838 baptismal record in the Nenagh RC records on Roots Ireland www.rootsireland.ie for a Margaret Frawley but the fathers name was not Stephen so I suspect that it was a different Margaret.

Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out Catherine!
Thanks Roger. There are also 38 'Frawley' entires on the 1901 Census and none for 'Fawley' so Roger's train of thought could be the right one:
