I am the great great granddaughter of James E. Kinney. Born December 25, 1824 in County Clare, Ireland. Died December 18, 1907 in Elma, Iowa, USA. He arrived in New York on April 2, 1944, aboard the ship named the Ashburton out of Liverpool. His father was named James Kinney (born around 1800).
I do not what parish he lived in and no further information about him. Any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.

Dear Sharon:
Thanks for your query to Ireland Reaching Out. Have you tried to access the online resources available about County Clare genealogy through the Clare Library website? If not, it is well worth a look. You can look through the Tithe Applotment Books by parish or by surname and it will help you narrow down your search as to what possible parishes your ancestors may have come from.
In addition, there is a lot of donated material consisting of baptisms, marriages and deaths and you can access these as well. You may find that your parish is in some of that material.
Take a look at the website: http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/genealog.htm
Let me know how you get on and I can try to assist you further.
Kind regards,
Jane

The above link is a place to start. This shows James Kenny (various) and the parishes where they were resident in. Killofin is in Labasheeda and it might help to re-direct your query to the Kilrush parish that is active on the Reaching Out webpage. I will ask someone from there to have a look for you.
Kind regards,
Jane.

Hello Jane,
I have been searching for James Kenny in various locations in County Clare and there are so many! I don't want to just pick one and assume he is my gggrandfather! Is there anyway to try to find which one is our gggrandfather? Thank you so much.
I have been in contact with the town in Iowa where he died to see if they can find anything to give us additional clues; perhaps in his obituary, on his death certificate or a few relatives still living in the area. Hopefully, we can find something to help us narrow our selection to appropraite James Kenny.
May thanks,
Sharon
