hi,
My g-g-grandparents married in the RC Church in Clontibret c.1869.
I cannot find official records unfortunately for some reason.
I was wondering how I could contact the Church for marriage records ??
Catherine SHERRY from Tullycumiskey married James McKENNA from Scotstown c.1869.
Thank you for any help.

Sean:
I found an 1869 civil marriage index record in the Monaghan registration district for a marriage of a Catherine Sherry and the two possible male spouses on the page were Michael M'Kenna and Patrick M'Anally. Is it possible that your James was Michael James? The record is in Volume 3 page 308.
I also gave you the link (above) to the church.

hi Roger,
I did see that record for Michael McKENNA, but my g-g-grandfathers name was James Thomas and the birth of his children are all listed on familysearch but not the marriage.
This is the record for James but I can't match it to Catherine for some reason...
Name: James M'Kenna
Event Type: Marriage
Event Date: 1869
Event Place: Monaghan, Ireland
Registration Quarter and Year: 1869
Registration District: MonaghanThank you for the link to the church.

Sean,
The 1869 James M?Kenna marriage appears to have been to Anne M?Carron.
I noted an 1870 marriage registered in Monaghan for a James M?Kenna . One of the brides on the same page was Ann Sherry. Monaghan1870 Vol 8, page 263.

hi Elwyn,
Thank you for that, it is much appreciated...
The eldest child, my g-grandmother was born in 1870, so I would imagine the marriage was a year or two before that...
Name: Rose Anne
Gender: Female
Christening Place: 347, SCOTSTOWN, MON, IRE
Birth Date: 09 Apr 1870
Birthplace: Scotstown, Mon, Ire
Father's Name: James Mc Kenna
Mother's Name: Catherine SherryJames left a Will before he died leaving his property to his wife Catherine.
I also have a copy of my g-grandmothers marriage cert. which names her father James.
I know I have the right couple, just cannot find a marriage record.
I am going to try the church records.

hi,
This is a real longshot, but...
I wonder if anyone here is related to the following SHERRY family.
In 1901 Mary SHERRY is living in Tullycumasky with her 2 brothers, I believe they are my g-grandmothers siblings.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Monaghan/Castleshane/T…By 1911 the eldest brother has married and Mary has gone.
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Monaghan/Castleshane/T…I have a feeling Mary may have died in 1912 as I found a death record that would match her DoB - but I can't be certain.

Hi Sean,
My name is Eugene Sherry and I'm orginally from Tullycumiskey, Castleshane. My folks still live there. I don't think I'm related to your relative Catherine Sherry above. My ancestors are Francis Sherry and Mary Sherry (nee Harvey) in the 1901 & 1911 census. Their children were Mary Ann, Patrick (my grandfather) & Francis Henry. I think I remeber my Dad mentioning that his parents spoke about a Catherine Sherry living in Tullycumiskey at this time. I will check this out with him and get back to you.
Regards
Eugene

Hey Eugene,
My mum was called Mary Catherine after someone on her father's side I think. I thought her grandmother but it may have been a grandaunt.
